Hiring cheap web designers? Read this first
In this post we discuss the hidden costs involved in digital and how cheap base rates don’t tell the whole story and can end up costing you an arm and a leg in the long run.
‘You get what you pay for’ – this holds true most so in the tattoo space and the digital space.
Just as you wouldn’t get a tattoo from the cheapest parlour and expect the best results, the same applies to the digital marketing space. With spammers by the dozens coming out of India offering cheap deals on websites and mumbo-jumbo marketing, it is easy to be pinch pennies and sign up for them. However, the end result is almost never good. We have helped many a client pick themselves up off the floor after being stung with Google penalties and messy code. Here are some of the reasons why I don’t recommend going down the cheap and nasty path:
- Communication errors and lag. You want a responsive team that understands what you and the local market needs.
- Good design takes time and effort. A cheap and nasty design will not convert people as well and can be detrimental to your brand. Put your best foot forward as you only have one shot at making a first impression.
- In an effort to keep costs down, outdated technology often gets used. This can be easily hacked and doesn’t work well across all platforms and browsers.
- Servers can often be hosted in a dangerous virtual neighbourhood causing you to get spam penalties from Google or slow load speeds both of which are death sentences for your SEO efforts..
